The project was envisioned as a groundbreaking deep energy retrofit, featuring a state-of-the-art thermal “jacket” for the building enclosure, seamlessly integrating wiring, conduit, ductwork, and other critical infrastructure within the exterior cavity of the building. The scope also included the electrification of the domestic hot water plant, heating system, ventilation, appliances, and lighting upgrades to drastically reduce the energy use intensity (EUI) of the building while improving efficiency and comfort. A rooftop solar array was also set to provide clean, renewable energy.

Though the project was not constructed, it became a catalyst for innovation, shaping cutting-edge research and methodologies in deep energy retrofits for multifamily buildings. This pioneering effort propelled Cycle to the forefront of the industry, enabling the development of numerous retrofit projects.
